Social Media is so confusing!

Right, so as of late I have decided to try and become more "connected" in order to help my own photography work and get more advice (this has literally developed over the last two weeks or so!) I have done this due to the advice given to me by other photographers and people my age who are more up to date with how the world seems to work. Now despite the fact I am 20 years old and I am part of the 'younger generation' that are supposed to be more in tune with how this all works I must say I honestly haven't a clue as to how this all works! I found that my Mum knew more about how all this works to be completely honest! None the less I decided to venture into the unknown and my god was I shocked! I have no idea! That's just it! No idea! What does all this mean? Facebook I have had for 2 maybe three years (to my knowledge) but even then I barely had a clue what I was doing! So many random friend requests and pages to like and articles to read I still am confused as to what to do with it!

However here I am now with a Twitter account, and Instagram account, a Facebook Photography Page, Tumblr account and now this! Blogger I find a lot easier to understand to be completely honest, It, for me is like an online diary of sorts, a place to sort my work and put down ideas and whatnot, I can understand the purpose behind it. But, you then have Twitter, what can I tell people with 140 characters? Instagram, what kind of photos do I post here, people on it seem to do a variety of things from their shoes to landscapes. Tumblr I find to be the most confusing, the layout of it to me seems bizarre, the function of it I can't quite understand, I imagine it is similar to this but it doesn't feel like it, I can't quite put it to words.

The only thing I have used Social Media wise for a while is Flickr, I think I have had that account for around two maybe three years now. That just seems like an online portfolio to me and it was't until very recently I looked into all the groups they had and started sharing my work that I got any sort of feedback, I have even been invited to join some groups.

I'm not really sure what the entire point of this post really is. It certainly doesn't benefit anyone else I am sure! However, it is good to put all these thoughts into words, to actually see what is going on. I wonder if anyone else feels the same about all this, or better yet would care to give an explanation!

Anyway that is all for now, if anyone would care to have a look at any of these accounts than I shall leave my links below, would be good to get some feedback.
